Blossom Where You’re Planted

Psalm 1:1-3

1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be likea tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

As we watch one season make its journey out and another quickly proceed in, we begin to see and feel the many changes that accompany that journey.  At this time we are in a seasonal journey as spring transitions into summer.  With that transition many changes are taking place, one of the greatest of those is the blossoming process.

Plants are blossoming – trees are popping with new foliage – grass peaks through the ground.  However, a greater blossoming should be visible within the Southeast Conference, and that is the blossoming of believers.

God places each of us where He desires for us to grow for that season, as is shown in the referenced scripture, where He uses the symbolism of a tree being planted by water and bringing forth fruit.  I ask: where has God planted you for this season of your spiritual journey?

How do you blossom where you are planted?  Where there is blossoming three phases will occur before the actual foliage manifests itself.  First –

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water

  1. Planting (v3) – God will strategically plant you where fermentation can take place.  However, with fermentation some things must be destroyed so that others may begin to grow.

For me I was planted in Kingdom Builders Covenant Church under the leadership of Pastor K. Francis Smith 2 ½ years ago.  My family and I were in transition to a new spiritual season and God planted us where we could be nurtured for growth, and the fermentation process began.

My ministry philosophy of being alone and serving God’s people had to be destroyed, so that my new mindset of building relationships with my fellow sisters and brothers could bloom.  This was the result of many one-on-one coaching sessions with my pastor, leadership training, and of course the conviction of God concerning things of my past that were holding me back.

The awesome thing was after being planted I moved to the next phase of the blossoming process.

Which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither

  1. Productivity (v3) – Anytime planting takes place, with nurturing and fermentation there will be productivity.  The fruit of your labor will spring forth.

For my family the productivity is evident in our ministries.  My husband, Mark, leads our Men’s Ministry; our son, DuMarkus works with the Audio Visual Ministry; our daughter, Wysdom is a part of the Flames of Fire Praise Dance Ministry, and I lead the Women of Worth (WOW) Ministry as well as our New Members Ministry.

Without the planting of God and the nurturing of my Pastor, there would not have been productivity and I would never have gotten to the third phase of blossoming…

And in whatever he does, he prospers

  1. Prosperity (v3) – Anytime we can see or experience the fruit of our labor, we have achieved prosperity (increase).  Not just personally, but within the kingdom of God.

So the challenge for each of us is to grow where we have been planted so that there may be productivity and prosperity within our lives and ministries.  Make a commitment to God and your ministry to attend leadership classes, attend bible study, seek one-on-one coaching if needed, return or begin school so that you to may bring forth new produce and achieve the prosperity of blossoming where you have been planted.
