Superintendent
Rev. Dr. Robert L. Owens
 
Rev. Dr. Robert L. Owens is a graduate of North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, where he received a Master of Divinity degree. Robert also holds a Master degree in Public Administration from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California and a Doctorate degree in New Church Development from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur Georgia.

He has spent over 30 years in church ministry, pastoral care, evangelism, and community involvement, emphasizing building of the lives of people, both spiritually and economically.  As Superintendent in the Southeast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, he oversees 45 Churches in six southern states. Additionally, he served as the Associate Superintendent and Director of Church planting in the South East Conference for six years. Dr. Owens’ previous experience includes being the founder/pastor of New Life Covenant Church in Atlanta, Georgia, pastoring an inner-city church in Compton, California and extensive work in both the private sector of housing and the public sector of city management and various social agencies.  Dr.  Owens considers all of these areas of need to fall under the jurisdiction of the church, believing that it is necessary to provide support for every aspect of a person’s life in order for positive change to take place.

In addition to his pastorate, he has served as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Southeast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, as a board member of North Park University and Seminary, a member on the Board of Human Resources for the Evangelical Covenant Church, as a prayer associate for Church Growth and Evangelism of the ECC, and also as a prayer coordinator for the Metro Youth Detention Center’s program, “Tool Kit for Life,” located in Atlanta Georgia.  He is a member of “City Lights” who has monthly meetings with clergy and businesspersons citywide in Atlanta, bringing churches and businesses together to address the social and moral concerns of the city.

Robert is married to Mary Ann; they have three sons: Eric, Ian, and Marc.
