In the Southeast Conference, we believe that life is better together. One of the crucial functions of our conference is to be a centralized location to help distribute resources. Resources that help our churches do ministry better, our pastor’s lead well, care well and teach well, and all of our people to follow Jesus more closely.

Sustaining Pastoral Excellence

Sustaining Pastoral Excellence is directed through the Department of the Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The purpose of the initiative is to resource our denominational ministers for personal and vocational vitality as they continue to obediently respond to God's call. Credentialed pastors and missionaries can apply for grants to help them pursue growth opportunities in the areas of character, competence, and constancy. The resources for this initiative come from a grant from the Lilly Endowment, Covenant ministers, Regional Conferences, and individual donors.

Renewal Retreats

Pastors and missionaries who feel the need to spend 3 to 7 days in retreat, prayer, and study can make application to the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence initiative for such a purpose. An outline of the retreat components will need to accompany the grant application. Grants of up to $900 are awarded for personal renewal retreats, and $5,000 for group retreats (4 or more individuals). The Spring 2010 Re-visioning Retreat will be held May 2-7, 2010 at the Abbey Guesthouse at Saint John's in Collegeville, Minnesota.

This retreat experience is designed for those in ministry who are seeking to renew their friendship with God, reignite their pastoral imagination and explore their call in a deeper way. There will be two retreats offered per year with a maximum of 10 participants per retreat.

All expenses for the retreat experience including registration, lodging, food, and materials will be covered. A travel allowance of up to $500 will be provided for transportation to and from the seminar. All applicants must submit a $125 refundable deposit when making application to attend (more details are found on the application form).
